I need help with my mobo.... whats wrong?!!

Post by ji1831 »

Again my K7VTA3 2.0.......... i get the "unknown flash type" at the startup. now i bought a Athlon XP 2000+ but it wont recognize it so i am still stuck with my athlon 1.13ghz. the new bios update says that they support the newer AMD processors, so i need to get that, but when i tried to flash it it came out with an error that said "unknown flash type" just like that start up screen. help? any suggestions?

thanx!

What board is this. The model nubmer don't mean much to me but in most newer mobo's there is an option in the bios to enable or disable flashes.. might check there for a switch like that...

Did you successfully flash the bios? Does it tell you this while your trying to flash or does it tell you this after you've flashed. Need to be a little bit more descriptive here...

ok..... now lets forget about the flashing part. forget i ever said flash. ok now. my system on boot up orignally it is supposed to say something like updating whatever or .....successful. but mine juss says unknown flash type. and then boots normal. and my system is fine, but i want to use my new xp 2000+ and my mobo wont recognize it, because i need the newest bios, but now i try and it seems like there is no bios right now, because it wont recognize it or flash it because it doesnt know the "type" of the bios.

You need ths bios revision ---> k7vta322a.exe (click to download). Before flashing, make sure to check in the bios to see if there is a setting to enable flashing it. My Soyo Dragon Plus has an option in it to prevent an incorrect flash. Keep us informed on how it works out. :)

**EDIT** Taken from the ECS support page: http://www.ecs.com.tw/support/support.htm

My system appear "Unknow Flash Type" after I installed new H/W, why ?
Please check the where do you set regards to BIOS protect jumper ? if the jumper your are set on enable (protect), it will appear unknow flash type after you upgrade new H/W, you can set as disable while you want upgrade new H/W, then set back after re-initialize the ESCD.
