XP1700+ & custom D+ bios

Post by NascarFool »

I unlocked my XP1700+ several months ago but could never get it to boot above 12x134. Last week I downed a custom bios from http://forums.biosmods.com for my Dragon Plus. Now I can boot up at 12.5x133 and to me it is stable. 3dMark2001SE will lock up about halfwat through but I can play MoHAA, Q3, UT and Nascar Racing 3 for hours without any lockups or crashes. (3DMark2001SE locks up tight) Temps will climb up to 44ºC under a load and under light use it hangs around 32ºC. Should I ignore 3DMark2001SE ? PCMark2002 and Sandra both run without any problems. :)

3DMark is picky as hell about memory timings, I'm betting you are running with really fast timings. You might slow them down a bit and see if it runs, just for yucks. :) Long as the "important" stuff runs fine, I wouldn't sweat it.

I messed with the mem settings and then it refuses to load. I'm happy to have it the way it is. The strange thing is if I set it at 11x137 or higher it will crash. Right now at 12.5x133 it runs great. :)

I don't know I have a Dragon Plus mobo. I think it is the onboard nic that craps out on mine. If I set it at anything over 140FSB I can play games for hours with no problem but as soon as I do something that accesses the nic I lock up or BSOD.
