Trying to get sound to work in Win XP Pro.

Post by hammer01 »

I am using a Philips PSC602 card and the drivers install all right but do not start. I have been unsuccessful in devising a method to start the driver or device. The areas in the sound properties box are all greyed out and I cannot add my card as the WAV/MIDI/Line Out type device, the box just tells me the driver is enabled but has not started. Any insight would be most appreciated.

So Device Manager is not reporting any errors or conflicts? That's strange. You sure the drivers are XP compliant? Check the manufacturer's web site for the latest ones.

Other than that, I'm stumped. It SOUNDS like the drivers aren't installed properly but if the weren't you should get a yellow caution in Device manager. However Windows IS capable of failing to detect an improperly installed device driver - seen it often enough.

If there are no drivers for XP try than the drivers for Windows 2000 at the driver cd shipped with it... :p
No Keyboard detected. Press any key to continue. (Windows error message)
