I downloaded the rather small (/sarcasm) 190MB demo and I liked it so far (poor lads on dialup). The demo is ~10% of the game and it kept me busy this evening for quite a while.
I might pick it up once I find time to play more then just a few hours at the weekends.
Diablo 2 was kinda addictive due to the newer/better item hunt that kept me going on and on and on ... I only played offline but I have a Necro at 82 and a couple in the 40-60 range.
Dungeon Seige
I just finished the game last Friday and while the graphics sometimes had me drooling, I still have some reservations about this game -
1) You have no identity. The game begins with a personal quest to avenge the death of your father (single player) but you completely loose sense of this quest as you progress through the game. In fact, from the moment you add a second person to your party you get the sense that your main character could die and nobody would care less.
Look at Baldur's Gate on the other hand. You have characters interacting with each other from falling in love to bitter fights. You get different quests depending upon who is in your party. And you can complete the quests out of order. Characters seem to join your party in Dungeon Siege either because they are bored or they like to fight. I thought this was an RPG but DS is only 2% role-playing, at most. The least they could have done is make the dialogue a little bit more personalized.
2) If it's not an RPG it might be more on the strategy side. However, the combat in DS is so dumb-downed that you can practically click on a mob of enemies, go make lunch, and then come back later to see that every foe is dead and your healers have fully healed your party. It makes for a game that plays out more like a movie.
I'd still like to try the multi-player to see if it's any different, however, it's highly unlikely that I'll ever play the single-player again.

Poor Darkheart.......Jaded at your time of life.
I get like that sometimes, it is bound to happen. Shame it happened just as that game came out.
I am in exactly the OPPOSITE position. I have spent a few pleasant weeks away from the PC, messing with mates consoles, getting drunk and womanising.........and somehow I enjoyed it all!
But the call of the PC was too strong.......even for that little lot! And there it was in the shop window, and I purchased, I went home (first time for a while. the ex looked shocked to see me walking in) boot up, install...........
and good bye to my life!
Awesome, easy, fast, simple but big beyong belief.
Only enjoyed a few hours so far but I look forward to another blast in next few days....GOOD GAME!
