Security concerns with GoToMyPC.com?

GoToMyPC.com is basically a PCAnywhere type app that's run through a browser. They charge monthly for it.

I have a client who's using this to allow access to an office system for an employee who needs to make updates to a database who lives up north.

I'm doing some reading of reviews online, but my big concern is security. Wondering if anyone here has heard anything good or bad.

They use a username, password and a long pin-type number for access. They claim that the pin is only stored on the host computer and not on their server.


The client likes it and doesn't want to go through the hassle of trying to have his employee change to another program like pcAnywhere, and having to learn how to use it.

Any comments appreciated.

Haven't used it ....yet. Have VPN with my company and have not had real need for my home toys yet. I did run a check through a few security groups I belong to, one of my many hats at work, and did not find anything bad.

I ran through their white paper and find it quite interesting and feel it is a good deal for the home/small business user who does not want the problems associates with the upkeep on a VPN. I don't think you have much to worry about. In fact, I downloaded the free trial and will test it tonight from work.

By the way, did anyone seriously try to purchase one of you Flying Penguin case mods? I loved it.
