Whoohoo!!! Even though we have a Gateway shop the EV700 monitors from them aren't half bad!

Ok, you guys got me wanting to try this dual monitor thing out. But I'm stuck. (surprise!
)
I got an old 2mb Trident(yeah, I know, but it's the only PCI card I got) and a AGP Radeon. I
removed the Radeon and installed the Trident and rebooted a few times...someone above
said that would be a good idea. Then I added the Radeon and installed it's drivers. The old
monitor I have connected to the Trident works good, but the one I have connected to the
Radeon says this "If you can read this message, Windows has successfully initialized this
display adapter. To use this adapter as part of your Windows desktop, open the Display
option in the Control Panel and adjust the settings on the Settings tab."
Under System/Device Manager it says the Trident is working properly, but the Radeon has
a yellow exclamation mark next to it and it says "Multiple Display Support cannot start
this device. The area of memory normally used by video is in use by another program
or device. To enable Multiple Display Support, remove EMM386 or other memory managers
from Config.sys and restart your computer." I tried to open Config.sys with Notepad but
it's empty...which I understand is normal for Win98 machines. I'm at a loss as to what to
do next guys and need a little help.

I don't understand why you uninstalled the Radeon first. Sounds like you made the Trident your primary which is NOT what you want to do.
Pull the Trident and install the Radeon as your only display card. Once that's working, install the Trident and it'll become your secondary (make sure that if there's a setting in BIOS for the primary display, you set it to AGP).
I you get a memory area conflict again, change the memory block settings that the Trident uses in it's resource settings in Device Manager so that they're different than the settings for the Radeon.

I did what you said to do as far as taking out the Trident and all that, but I still get the messages. As far as I can see (by System/Device Manager/View Resources) the only conflict with memory is both 'VIA Tech Standard CPU to PCI Bridge' and 'Radeon' are both using D0000000-D7FFFFFF. I tried changing them thru device manager...I uncheck 'use automatic settings', highlight 'Memory Range', and click on 'Change Setting'...but I get 'This resource setting cannot be modified'.
I heard that some cards just won't well together. Maybe that's the case here.
