Just dopped a bunch of cash for a new system and I need to tell someone

Post by TruckStuff »

So I finally was able to convince my boss I needed a new system for work. Fortunately, he enjoys playing around with computers too, so it didn't take too much. I was able to get him to chip in $400 towards this (which coverd about HALF  ). Here are the specs:

Tyan Tiger MPX Dual Athlon motherboard w/ on board 3com LAN
1x Retail AMD MP 1600+ (for now, I'll add the second when my pocket book doesn't hurt so much)
2x256MB Micron PC2100 DDR RAM
Adaptec 19160 U160 SCSI controller
Seagate 18.4GB 15,000 RPM U160 Hard Drive

For now, I will be sticking with my full tower case, GTS2 and SB Live! Value. I will also stick with my IDE CD-Rom (don't ask what brand) and HP 4x burner. Once I got some more money, both of these will probably go for a SCSI burner and CDD. It was kind of painful pulling out the credit card for it, but I think I'll enjoy it! :)

mmmm, SCSI. Thats something I'll probably get into with my next system. I think I'll have SCSI for my boot drive/games and get a huge IDE drive for music/movies.

Nice system :)

stop taking my ideas, first you get an Athlon XP (I got mine first) then you go and get a 19" FP950...geez, when will you stop??!?!?! :chug

I'm in the process of shelling out cash. Bought 2 60GB drives, arriving like tomorrow prolly, ordered an Iwill XP333-R board and 256MB of DDR memory, gonna order a XP 1800+ w/ Thermalright SK6 and Delta fan. Then when taxes get back (federal) I'll order another 256MB stick and probably end my spending for awhile. Getting money sucks when you love to spend money :)

Shoulda just got a WD 100 GB WD1000JB and skipped all that SCSI stuff. You'd have another 82 gigs and money left over for a decent vid card.
