ok now. i got a shuttle ak12a for my brothers comp w/ a duron 700@stock gf2 gts 32 ddr. with a WD 20gb 7200. 24x cdrom (not a burner). with 192 mb pc133 anyway. the comp posts and everything then it detects the IDE. both the HD and cdrom show up both master HD as pri. and cd as sec. then it goes to a blank screen with the little cursor in the top left corner and keeps blinking and then nothing happens what the heck is wrong? help as soon as possible.

Was it a new install with an operating system already on the HD? If so, maybe a Format is due. What OS are you running?

If there is no OS then there is nothing for it to boot to. What os are you going to install? You will need to boot off of a floppy or the installation disk for your OS. Go into bios and set it too boot off of CD if you are going to use a CD to boot instead of a floppy

Depending HOW it was formatted that may be normal - sounds liek there's boot sectors but no boot files.

Boot with a 98 boot floppy. If the drive is formatted then you should be able to list the directory (DIR C :) from the command line. If not, format it (FORMAT C:/s).
