I used adaptec easy cd creator 5 and some other MP3 to cd program...
my cd-rw drive starts to write the table of contents and then just stops about midway though that... the writing light just stays on... and so does the reading light... and its stays on until I shut off my system ... I then took out the cds and saw that just a very thin line was burned on the cd... do you think its the software??? or the cds??? because I know its not my burner... it burned fine when I used to you other mediums.... and these are the same 80min/700mb... I just downloaded soooo many good songs too... I wanna get 'em on a cd so I can listen to 'em on my way to work any suggestions????
The Yamaha SCSI burner I have here at work is VERY picky bout which brand it uses. You might check wtih the manufacturer of the burner to see if Imation is on the list: it isn't for this Yamaha.
I got a free spindle of 100 Imation CD's (after the rebate) which I thought was a pretty good deal (heck they're free), but it wasn't worth the aggravation. I'd say 25% were defective - you could actually see visible flaws in the media.
Ever since I buy nothing but name brand and never have a problem.

I've always had good luck with Imation's TDK are the CDR's that are a POS IHMO.. I've had nothing but trouble with those... Normally i buy Memorex Maxell or Imation.
TDK, HP, Memorex all work good for me. There's also sometimes different grades even with the same brand.
Burners can be picky - you may find that they have a preference for a particular color dye layer.

I once bought some el-cheapo cdrs from Comp-usa (100 for $20, no jewel cases) and there's times when I can't burn some things onto them, they're "fussy" (get errors, door opens) so I'll then use a better quality cdr, no prob.
I won't buy cheap cdrs again.
i originally used imation cds with my 4x burner, um that lasted for three cds. the cds actually skipped, the quality was just terrible. ever since then ive been using memorex or sony.
