Just FYI, if you want to check out tight stock sound systems, get in a Lexus SC430. Mark Levinson all the way.

Other than the Viper (the Blue Coupe would be my choice), Chrysler hasn't made any other decent performance cars since '73. I too like old Mopar but those are now very rare in my area these days. I only see them now at summer auto shows, rarely on the streets here now.

As for a newer "perf" American car, the new 'vettes do impress me alot. There's one sitting in our service drivethough where I work (a trade-in) and it's really growing on me but fortunately I don't have more garage space or spare $$ to even seriously think about it now. Despite some opinions, if you've ever really looked one of those over closely on a hoist you'ld see that it's no junk, it's a well contructed, well thought out perf. sportscar. The Z06 would be my choice if money were no object (under $50K that is) for a "toy" (not an everyday driver, no winters ever, etc).

i am going to look do some more research, and i am very confident that there are 02's that can run high 12's low 13's, I have bheen a regular at that site as well as firebirdv6.com and i wud take the word of those guys over some magazine article anyway, half the dyno sheets they quote when compared to the same vehicle in the real world are never 100%

Oh yea and Preadator I take it as an insult when you refer to my car as a "clunker V6" I have put alot of time and effort into that car both cosmetically, and mechanically, and i in no way try to pass my car off as an LS1, If you want to make a comment like that, make it at the track, and have somethin that can back it up.

And btw, i know what speed is, I have an XC 600 that can pull 0-60 in around 4.5 seconds..

Predator,
What are your thoughts on the new Duramax Diesel from Chevy? I noticed you said you owned a Powerstroke in an earlier post and seem rather knowledgeable about engines, so I thought I would see what you think. My cousin has one and says it runs like gangbusters, but I have yet to ride in it.

Btw, All I have is a 1992 Stepside w/ 350, 5 speed, chip, K&N Filter, headers, and maybe when income tax comes in.....a B&M Supercharger. And if you wondered.......I am a true, blue, Chevy man :)

Go for the Vette if you won't be driving it everyday. If you want a great car to drive everyday, get a BMW M3. Silky smooth power, and far superior ride and comfort than anything american. I'm partial to foreign cars because I've had some bad experiences with american ones..and the fact remains that america still can't make a decent luxury car to this day.
Welcome to the machine.

I have considered the M3 actually. i like the way they handle/ride but i just want some american V8 for fun before every car but the vette is a v6 or something. I'm sure they will bring back the camaro as a little import just like they did the nova.

I don't have one Nuster my uncle does and was at my house when i was typing that :) I sure wish i had one... I've never got to drive the Chevy with the Duramax in it... One of the owners for the company i work for has one... He says its has a lot more power than the old 6.5 Diesel of GM's but it still don't have the pulling power like the Cummin or Powerstroke no matter what Chevy says its rated at... He says its a big plus over the old 6.5 Said unloaded it will shit and get but put some weight behind it and you notice it get real doggie... I've got a 72 Chevy K20(was a C20) All custom still working on it but its driveable legally :0 Pontiac 389 under the hood... She's a fun one to drive. I'm partial to Ford since thats all my dad has ever owned... There's some Chevy's i'd like to own... a 69 Camaro SS would be one of them and i've got my 72 Truck always liked the way this body style looked.

Pred,
I hear ya on those old Chevrolet trucks. I have owned a 62 stepside (327), 68 Fleet (350), 70 Fleet (283 or 327 never tore into it), 71 Fleet (with a sweet 350 dirt track racing motor in it), 73 (307) Fleet, 77 (350) Fleet, 79 (6 cyl) Fleet, 81 (350) Fleet, 83 (350) Fleet, 86 (400SB) Fleet, and finally my current 92 (350) Stepside. I hope I got em all. Whew, almost exhausted after all that. All short wheel bases too, got a thing for em :)

My 86 was probably my baby. I bought it looking exactly like it does in the picture, but with a V-6 and a granny low 4-speed. Finally massaged a 400 with Edelbrock carb, Weiand dual plane alum. intake, Hedman Headers, ported and polished heads, Summit Racing cam and lifters and a new turbo 350 with shift kit. Never dyno'd it, but I would have put it in the 325 hp range and very torquey (if you have ever owned a 400, you know what I mean). Had to get rid of it when my son was born, cause it just was not a truck to haul a baby around in, so I sold it and bought the 92. I also had 15x10 inch wheels on it with 295/50's and it still had a major problem hooking up at the dragstrip. Nothing like unbolting the headers and making a pass anyway :)

Gonna try to post an image of the 86 here at the bottom, lemme know what you think,

The Pontiac 389 in my truck was estimated at 290hp and 370ftlbs of torque.. Thats the stock specs from 65. Its been rebuilt since then not by me but the compression in it is 10.5:1 so its super unleaded with a can of 108 octane boost to get it to really run... She'll run on reg unleaded but when ya really get on it it pings pretty bad. Its a 65 motor we think it came out of a Pontiac Lemans but not sure or a GTO... It just has a 2 barral carb on it and all looked like it was original... I do wanna find a 6 pack out of a GTO though and slap on it right after i put a gear drive on the crank and and a new cam. I've gotta build a set of headers for it... Can't find a set that will fit since this was a car motor and now is in a truck. Shouldn't be too hard we've got all the mills and pipe benders at work to do it... Its peppy... i've got 4.10 gears Turbo350 w/ NP205 behind it... 33x12.50x16.5 mudders... I can light them up no problem... It was fun mating everything together... I still need to redesign the motor mount crossmember... Frame is twisting when the motor torques hard. its fun messin' aroudn with them... Gives me soemthing to do in my spare time :) I need to take some pics of it... She's ugly i've got 90% of the mechanical work taken care of next step is to beautify it... Thats gonna take a lot of work lol

Pred,
After about two sentences into your post.....I was thinking tri-power setup :) I have always has a hobby rig up until now, but I have the feeling that is about to change. What do you do for a living bro? I am a CNC Machinist for the Dana Corp. and sounds like you do close to the same. Take it easy,
