Updating VIA on my KT7A-RAID

Post by Cryo »

I've never updated the VIA drivers on my KT7A-RAID motherboard and I'm thinking that I might do it in the near future. What kind of improvments am I looking at? Is there anything I should be careful of?

Good Q

I'm running Via 4.25 here with my KT7-Raid but I'm not one to jump into new drivers unless I'm convinced that it'd be a noticeable improvement. I'm happy when everything's working fine and sometimes upgrades (new drivers, etc) lead to new problems not previously expected, or so experience tells me.

From my expereince any performance gains from the 4.25 to the newest 4.37 would be slight. Personally I have never had any troubles upgrading VIA 4in1's so I usually don't hesitate to upgrade them when new ones are available.

If your running a GF3, you may want to switch to a standard VGA display driver before hand. I've never had any luck installing the 4-in-1's when Nvidia's drivers are running. Of course this in under WinME for me, not sure how it would work out for other operating systems.

Like Dad, I've never had any problems installing 4in1s. Going from the 4.25s to 4.37s might not be worth it if everything is running stable and fast anyway.

I'd do it if I thought it'd make any difference but I have my doubts. If anyone who's done it says they noticed anything better, please do tell........................

OK......but WHERE?

Post by EvilHorace »

I did a search and found a few sites listing the Via 4.37 drivers but I'm not finding any good sources as Download Accelerator is unable to DL anything from the file sites listed, just keeps re-trying.
Anyone here know where I can get it? I'm feeling brave :)
