Damn ! I was thinking of getting one of those 1800+'s but I had hoped it would hit like 1.7 at least. Do the XP's run any cooler, when OCed, than the regular 1.33 or 1.4 T-birds?

I wonder if maybe it would be a better idea to get a 1700+ with the 11 multiplier and hope it will run at a better FSB ( 150+ ? ) . There's a pretty good price bump between the 1700+ and 1800+. Did you try unlocking the multi? Maybe your ram is holding you back? I wouldn't think so tho at sub-150 FSB.

hmmmmm. I don't know what to do now for a proc. I've sold the 1.4 in my main rig to Blade and I have to replace it with something. Any suggestions? Mobo will be either the Soltek SL-75VDR4 or the Shuttle AK35GT. Neither of which is out yet. I don't need the o/b stuff that the Dragon+ has as I'll be using my Herc GTXP and Intel 10/100 NIC etc......

I just know that if I spring for a KT266A chipset that the KT333 boards will come out the next day. But if I wait much longer, the DDR ram might go up even MORE !! :( Good news is that the CPU prices are coming down a bit. :)

You think maybe you just got a mediocre ( no offense btw ) 1800 + ?? Or is that about what can be expected of one?

what to do...... :bonk

Maybe I'll just get another 50 dollar 1 gig Duron and an 8500, keep my Iwill and wait til all this ata133, DDR333 ram and mobo stuff gets all sorted out in the next month or so. :)

Guess I feel lucky.
I got my 1700+ unlocked and its running at 2000+ speed now (12 x 140)
SEE HERE

Got thru one loop of 3Dmark2001 at 12x142 just to break the 1700Mhz...but I run it at 12x140 all the time. On an Epox 8KHA+ with a swiftech cooler.

gonna end up with something like this.......

1800+xp
Iwill XP333R ( rev. 2.1 )
Kingmax PC2700
8500

I wanted to get a mobo where the cpu core voltage could go above 1.85v. XP333R does about 2.04-2.05V, C-media 6.1 o/b sound, o/b RAID (HiPoint372 ata133) , standard IDE channels are also ata133 and you can "torque-up" the memory votage as well. :) Those extra voltage tweaks ( rev. 2.1 only) seem to be helping people over at amdmb.com ( Iwill forum) get those stubborn Athlon XPs to OC a bit easier. The XP333R also has 1/5 PCI and 2/5 AGP divider settings. WHeeeeeeeee!!

Seems if you have the ram that can do it , FSB speeds of 160-170 and even 180 are not out of reach with these crazy boards! ......all for about $112 and 10 bux for shipping.

It was either one of these or the Shuttle AK35GTR. Basically, I didn't feel like waiting any longer. I've got a crystal orb review to finish for Blade and I sold him my 1.4 T-bird so I figured the Orb can go on the new mobo or the 8500. :)

I'm gonna first just shoot for 11.5x 148 for an initial config, using just the voltage tweaks and then prolly after a week or so, unlock the the cpu and really start to PLAY, using the multi and FSB! I don't want a mobo, I want a TOY !! :D
