Windows2000 Hibernate Help Plz!

HELP!!!!

I think I FUBARed my friend's laptop's hibernate!
It's a Win2K install on a HP Omnibook XE3...
All I did was play around w/ some extra sticks of RAM and for some reason now the lappy gets stuck whenever it attempts to either go into standby or hibernate!

I've tried the following:
Updated Windows
Go into safemode and restart from there (set some things to default when you do that)
Played around w/ the memory some more (swapped slots and such)
Delete all ACPI stuff and had them reinstalled
Disabled and Re-enabled hibernate (restarted in btwn that)
Loaded BIOS back to default values

I'm all dry on ideas!!! PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS!!!!

Hibernate may not function in Win2K. My laptop use to have that feature when it had ME as it was originally intended but after I installed my Win2K Pro upgrade to it, it's no longer a selectable option although it will still hibernate if I leave it on for a while unattended.

Hibernate is a feature that's known to be a tad buggy on some PCs. You may prefer going into standby or just shutting it down when not in use anyway.

Ok, Ed, your saying it's an OmniBook XE running Windows 2000, right? Did it originally come with WIndows 98 and get upgraded to Win2k? What is the Technology Code of that XE. I can help when I find that little guy out, but in the mean time you can check on http://www.hp.com/cposupport/mobile_computing/support_doc/bpi04051.html about BIOS 7.09 for Windows 2000 to enable ACPI. I know it was working before ya futzed with it, but just to be on the safe side.

I don't think Win2K does hibernate at all. My laptop was ME upgraded but my main dual boot PC has a fresh install of Win2K, neither now has hibernate as an option (ME did) but has standby and both go into standby if I leave them alone. All I need to do it hit the spacebar once and it wakes up from standby.

I take it your laptop doesn't do standby now?

Is there enough free space on the C: partition ?
Cause you need at least as much free space as there is RAM. It would refuse when there isn't enough free space.

Oh, the GC, nice. While I'm looking into it, go ahead and download the HP Support Tuner
It works a lot like WindowsUpdate, it scans the machine and looks for improper settings, etc, and can correct them. It's a 6Mb DL, btw.

Also, if PC Anywhere is installed on this lappy, look at Instand Support Doc IS5841
