Supposedly, folding is trying to find a cure for cancer. If that does happen and folding is primarily responsible. it'd sure feel great to know we helped. It even feels nice to know that we are trying.

my parent's XP 1800+ runs at 58C idle, 64C loaded and it's perfectly stable. I look at it this way, if it's stable it's not an issue. Yes, you may be shortening the life of the CPU a bit, but is it really a big deal if it lasts 9 years instead of 10?
those don't work as well if you use an NT-based OS. NT/2k/XP will issue HLT commands when the CPU is idle (System Idle Process in Task Manager.)Im serious try this first ! I killed at least 10 degrees.
