Hello all I have a P3 600 on an Asus P3V4X with a Global Win VOS-32 it has been running at 841Mhz at default voltage and very stable for a long time. So today I got the itch and tried to go to 900Mhz which required a voltage bump from 1.65 to 1.70. My quiestion is, is it worth it to bump the voltage for the extra 60Mhz it gives me? I have got SETI running right now and the temp is at 32 pretty good I would say. Any thoughts are advice is appreciated
there is no reason not to try Higher man. there is nothing wrong with bumping the voltage as long as the temps stay in check. congrats but GO HIGHER! your seti score needs it...hehehe
That is as high as it will go man. The P3V4X I have is one of the newer ones that does not have all of the FSB setting that the older ones did. Mine max out at 150 FSB. Can you beleive this I did a format last week and forgot to reinstall SETI but it is up and running now hope ET wasn't calling.
Thanks for the suggestion LutaWicasa. Next time I get the itch I will give it a try. For now I am happy with 900Mhz out of this 600 it has been about 2 days of non stop SETI with no problems and has I am typing this with SETi running CPU temp is 34c I gotta love an over clock of 50%
Doesn't seem to have helped SETI all that much it is still taking 12hrs give or take to get a work uonit done. This damn new version of SETI sure slowed things down
yes it did , I run the text ver of seti and run it on a ram drive to get the work unit done faster . My P3 700E OC 958mhz do it in a little under 6 hours a unit .
