Well whadya think? Played a few of the new maps, not bad most are rather big! The new skins on the players are sweet!!! So far "I like it alot".

P.S. If you play the new vertigo map(not sure), anyway the one in the skyscrapers, take a flyind leap off just to hear what happens. It's worth the sacrifice!!

That scream still cracks me up, and I must've played that map 10 times now :D

- models are better
- maps are cool
- mp5 sucks a$$ now!!
- I like what they did with the AWP
- There are even more really queer head shots now, perticularily from the m4 and ak. Not sure why :(
- Lag is worse I think

Yeah had a play of CS 1.1 today...
Lag seemed a lot worse although I was getting a ping of 60 everyone else on the server was hitting 300 so it may have just been them causung the lag not my machine...

Once I can find a server closer by and get that ping down to my usual 30ish then i'll be happy.

Also why did they not make 1.1 compatible with 1.0???? I had to try loads of my usual servers before I finally got it to work....

Aside from all the changes, have you notice it looks brighter.

Overall I like it.

I'm disappointed they brightened some maps needlessly. They added a LOT of lights to Cobble.

I know some people don't like dark maps, but hiding in shadows is part of the game.

No additional lag I've noticed and I was worried about that. I'm on a 52K dialup and would notice it. Models look great.

I didn't feel any difference in the MP5 myself. Maybe slightlier less powerful. Not sure.

- VERY happy the backpack model is back

- Love the new maps so far

- Disappointed they didn't improve assault - I still think this is a very unbalanced map. I like the custom map assualt2K that some custom servers are running MUCH better.

- Love the fact that freechase FINALLY works right for modem users. Those of you with broadband may not have realized it, but those of us with dialups could not use freechase before without getting a headache - the camera used to jitter all the time.

- Like that they've made it easier for admins to disable freecam. yes it's aggravating not to be able to fly around freely when you're dead sometimes, but it really ruins how a team formulates tactics and strategies if the enemy can spy on them all the time. I'm a purist, I prefer to have freecam disabled. Those of you who can't live without it, I'm sure there will always be some servers that enable it. It's like FF - some of us like the challenge.

- Suprised that PUSHLATENCY has been disabled. I used to tweak this a bit during play on high ping servers. Don't know if it was dropped or changed. If anyone knows please post it here. Gameplay was smooth for me this morning though. I use two 26K dialups with modem bonding under Win2K to get one 52K connection (hey, I live in the boonies) and can usually get 180 pings to nearby 5 hop servers in the morning. Played this morning and it was silky smooth. Haven't played tonight yet.

- Disappointed that r_shadows is still disabled. Valve promised they'd put it back in this version. I miss the shadows even if they are performance hogs.

- Overall the game feels tighter and looks more polished. I didn't hear the usual "I hate version 1.1" bitching that usually happens after a new version is released so I think everyone's pretty happy with it.

Haven't tried TFC yet to checkout the new models. Maybe tonight.

Overall I am diggin' it quite a bit. I do agree with the extreme amount of headshots I have been seeing tho. One thing I am disappointed in is the fact that there is still no real change in the bunnyhopper tactic. Sure, subs have had their in air accuracy toned down, but not full out automatics. So I still see these idiots bouncing around the maps.

The new maps are extremely cool btw, although I like assault2k better as well.

People are still going to hop, even if the accuracy is reduced to zero - it's still a valid survival tactic when crossing in the open.

Did you upgrade HL to the latest version (1106 I think)?

Im having a bitch of a time too Daman!
I have the 1016 version of HL game of the year version. Downloaded the csv1.1 and installed it..
Hit the cs icon on the desktop and it loads up fine.. But tryed to play the training course and got the missing dll too.
So far tonght I've upgraded my hl version 1016 to 1100 and again from 1100 to 1101 and still no go.. Now it load up the training splash sceen and stops with and error at the bottom saying "map change failed 'tr_1' not found on server"
WHAT!
(Aleat least the missing dll thing went away)

The only thing I can think of to do now is upgrade HL from the "update" in the game menu. (cendant software auto upgrade) Got it started and damn is it sloww! It wants a 57meg dl and its going to take hours and Im on cable.

I'll post back later with results. Hopfully the darn thing will run! If anyone has any magical words of wisdom feel free to post. :)

AMD FX 8350 8 core Processor

Seems plenty good for gaming! :)
