I've seen these similar types of hard drives released already. Their performance was quite good, not as good as SSDs, but still much better than standard hard drives.

i've used one of the older seagate hybrid laptop drives for quite a while...momentus xt model.

it's not a huge speed increase, but noticeable over the cheap, old 5400rpm drives that come in so many laptops.

Are there speed tests comparing those to various SSDs and SATA HDDs? Sure, they're less expensive and especially with larger size drives but I can't think they'd be nearly as fast as a good SSD.

All the speed tests I've seen show them coming in right in between the faster standard hard drives & SSDs.
