Super bowl movie previews

Post by Executioner »

Anybody check out the 5 new movies for the summer?

Transformers: Dark of the Moon" opens July 1, and no Megan Fox. Before this spot aired, director Michael Bay had only released a short and mysterious teaser trailer from his third and reportedly final film in the "Transformers" franchise. The Super Bowl ad, however, dispensed with the subtlety and showed some real action. It shows returning stars Shia LaBeouf and Tyrese Gibson caught in the crossfire as alien spacecraft reign down destruction on the city of Chicago.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Paramount Pictures The footage has the first look at Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, the former Victoria's Secret model who was cast as the female lead after Megan Fox left the project. Fox and Bay had both disparaged each other in the press after the second film, "Revenge of the Fallen," so it was not a big surprise that she did not come back for a third. But it was certainly unexpected for Bay to cast Huntington-Whitely, who had no previous acting experience, to take over as the romantic lead. Bay said that he auditioned more experience actresses, but concluded "it was something more interesting to go with something brand new and fresh."

Still, the real treat for fans in the spot was seeing the return of Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots. Optimus died in the second movie, but was brought back to life by the end of it. And in this third movie, it looks like he gets an upgrade. That's him flying down to the street with jet engines on his back and slicing through attacking robots with his sword.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opens May 20. Walt Disney Pictures showed a 30-second ad for the fourth "Pirates" film during the game, but we have an extended 60-second version of the spot. Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow, and in this installment he's searching for the ultimate treasure: the Fountain of Youth. The movie also stars Penelope Cruz as Jack's old flame, Angelica, and Ian McShane as the fearsome pirate Blackbeard.

Fast Five opens April 29. After reviving the series with "Fast & Furious," Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are back again for another high-speed adventure. The two are hiding out in Rio de Janiero, with a federal agent (played by Dwayne Johnson) tracking them down. The movie also brings back actors from each previous "Fast" movie, including Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Jordana Brewster.

Kung Fu Panda was a huge box office hit and an Oscar nominee for Best Animated Feature, so naturally a sequel was in order. The voice actors from the first movie return, including Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan and Angelina Jolie. And there are new characters voiced by Gary Oldman, Michelle Yeoh, and Jean-Claude van Damme. "Kung Fu Panda" hits theaters on May 27.

The Old West is invaded by an alien force so destructive it'll take both James Bond and Indiana Jones to save the day. In "Cowboys & Aliens," Daniel Craig is an outlaw and Harrison Ford is a cattle baron who must team up to take down a fleet of extraterrestrial adversaries. It rides onto movie screens on July 29.

Optimus has always had the sword and got the jet engines as part of using the parts of a former decepticon (SP) when he was brought back to life in the second movie. Remember he flew up to the top on the pyramid to kill The Fallen.
