1. buy chassis! 1000 dollars from supermicro

2. populate said chassis with drives! 1tb each = 79.99 x 24 = 2000 dollars

3. buy appropriate Motherboard, processor, memory combo! 500 dollars

4. start connecting the cables of your new raid cards! 1200 dollars!

5. groom wires!

6. install raided boot flash module, 69.99 + (12.99 x2) = 96 dollars

7. stand back and admire the bohemeth

8. install openfiler or unraid if u want!

9. log into device and configure your setup, this box has 2 raid 6's that will be mirrored together for even more redundancy.

10. enjoy your new box SAN unit capable of iSCSI or nas unit capable of file shares!

thats about how i did mine. but i only put 5 1tb drives in it so far.
