NetBooks Anyone have one
I was thinking about getting a netbook. Anyone have one and have recommendations on which one? I was thinking the Dell Mini10 or the Asus Eee 1000HE?

I would like one and will probably get an aircard for it but I'm waiting unti lthe end of the year. Tempted to wait until next year because AMD is coming out with a netbook CPU that they claim is more powerful than Intel's atom, but just as energy efficient (we'll see). We may also see some Android netbooks by the end of the year which should run better than Windows on these things.
If I was going to buy one now I'd look real hard at the MSI Wind U100: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/msi-win ... 32899.html

A friend of mine has one and highly recommends it. I am particularly impressed with the battery life he's getting. The problem with most netbooks is you get miserable battery life. Here's what he said in a post:

I have an MSI Wind U100. I love it. I use it as my day to day PC (can even play WOW on it).
I got the 3 cell battery version (with the 160 gb SATA drive) for $299 and bought a 9 cell battery for $70.
With the power saving setting turned on I can work with it for almost 9 hrs. That's with the wireless and bluetooth turned on and screen at a decent brightness. If I put down the brightness and turn off the bluetooth I can get almost 11 hrs out of it. I keep the 3 cell battery charged, can get another 2 hrs out of it if I need to.
I threw XP Pro on it and added another gb of memory (to add memory it's 8 screws, you actually take off the bottom of the laptop) just for an added bump, but the best thing is that when it's plugged in (or if you run a mod) it's got a built in turbo mode (controlled in the BIOS) that lets you overclock it from 1.6 to 2ghz.
Oh and it's rugged as hell. My mother in law screwed up her Acer by dropping it into the back seat of her car. My daughter chucked mine the other day a good 4 feet and it works great.

Good to know and thanks for the information. But I just couldnt wait. I got a Asus Eee 1000HE. It has great reviews and has blue tooth built in. This way I can connect to my blackberry and use it as a modem to have internet via my cell. (at least that is my plan...I read that it works).
This one is supose to have great battery life. It can be upgraded easily so I purchased a 2Gig ram stick. I will reply with a mini review when it arrives.

LMK if the Internet via Bluetooth works, and which Blackberry. Most carriers prevent you from using the phone as a tether unless you pay the full aircard monthly rate but I know there's hacks.

I know that you can use the Blackberry Curve (I think that's the model) as a tether with no additional costs, I've set it up for a client. And I was looking at my boss' new pearl the other day and the software is identical, so it should work as well..
