New article. They come out with one of these every 6 months or so. Nice rig they built around a Core 2 Duo E6550 and a Geforce 9600GT.

Yeah, gaming computers can be had all day around that price now a days. Though, I still don't know why they would take the 9600GT when the 8800GT is so much better & not a whole lot more. I do apreciate that they didn't get a 500gb drive though. Really, 160gb is plenty for a gaming computer.
It's funny though how motherboards have gone up in price compared to everything else. Used to be that a $150 motherboard was a top end one. Now, $200-350 is the norm. But processor & ram prices have plummeted. I guess video card prices have skyrocked as well. I remember when ATI & Nvidia just started competing & the top cards were about $120-150. Now, that's the budget range.

i'd go with gigabyte over asus (for the cheap p35..) something other than seagate 7200.10 for the HDD. (preferably 320 gig). 3850/3870 for the video card. and i definitely would go with an antec case w/ an earthwatts PSU oveer their choice. and an e8200 for the CPU, at a min.
