Can't Boot Off Of USB Hard Drive Enclosure
I just bought a USB 2.5" Hard Drive Enclosure, because I have some extra laptop hard drives lying around. For some reason, when I try to boot off of it, it begins to work, then just crashes. Is there a reason for this?
If you have it as first boot device set in the bios as usb, then I'd try another usb port. Some are picky.
Otherwise it may be the drive itself. Possibly overeating.

Booting from a USB drive can be very problematic. Depends on a LOT of factors. Many mobos don't properly support this.
Some possible isses:
- It may not work if you have any IDE devices installed
- You may need to enable USB legacy support in BIOS
- If the mobo is not USB 2.0 it probably won't work
- If the cable is not USB 2.0 it won't work
- The mobo may not support USB booting, or it may need a BIOS update
