Can't seem to get my CPU to overclock

ok, heres the question, i got a AMD 64 FX-55 on a Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939 mobo and, wheni try to OC it in the bios, it is fine, but wheni go to save and exit, and it saves and restarts, the stuff is back to stock, i mena, WTF is going on here? and how can I get it to OC

sounds like you're hitting a fail safe feature where if the board won't post, it automatically defaults to the factory settings....I assume that you are upping the voltage, etc. you need to start with a small fsb overclock and see if that sticks and then work up - not sure what kind of oc headroom those chips have but you might run over to anandtech or one of the boards where they have worked with the high end chips and see what kind of settings they were using...generally the larger the cache the more trouble you have in getting a stable oc and the FX series I believe are already clocked pretty high

well, all i am trying to change ATM is the FSB, it is stock at 200, and i have tried a small change, like only a few, and it resetsit self, it acs liek ti doesn't; even save it, it has the MB Intelligen Tweaker (M.I.T.) in it, it doesnt't have a nice easy thing, i can't seem ot figure it out quiet too well, and the book don't help much, lol (BTW, it says CPU Overclock in MHz, iut doesn't hav eit liek a regualr bios, it sux, ic an't get it, lol, i may get it taken care of at LANBash next weekend, but keep up the seggestions, lol, thanx

em what kind of memory you got if its ddr400 then then stock is your limit everytime u up the fsb u up the bus on the memory which causes system crashes.
