best way to format?

Post by sethpa »

I've got this problem computer... it has a bogus old winxp OS, hard drive has 2 partitions. Have transferred computer info to backup partition and would like to format the C: drive and put a legit copy of XP on it. When I tried to just use the new OS cd, it wouldn't let me install the new OS over the old one. Copying the format and fdisk files into a startup disk doesn't work... I've done this before, but it's been so long, I forgot how.. :(

Boot using the WinXP install CD. When you get to the point when it asks what partition to install the OS in, you have the option of deleting, creating and formating partitions.
