Nuisance: D/Led Files automatically open

Post by TruckStuff »

I've got a nuisance bug that I'd like to squash. The problem is that every time I download a file, IE doesn't ask me to save the file, it just downloads the data then opens a viewer to view the file. This is especially iritating on things like zip files that I want to always D/L. I think what has happened is that IE has been told to open a file on d/l and never ask what to do again. I can't seem to find the option in IE that will allow me to turn this feature off. Can anyone help me out? TIA.

open My Computer
click Tools | Folder Options | Files Types

Scroll down to ZIP/WinZip File and highlight it.
click Edit or Advanced
there should be a tick in the "Confirm open after download" box
click OK, then CLose.

hopefully that should do it.

Thank you Darcy, that did it. I got this computer from someone else in my office and I suppose this is what I get for not nuking it first. )*
