.dat file association

Some bonehead changed the association of my .dat files so now the open with winders media player. :rolleyes: How do I change the .dat association back to what it's supposed to be?

Go to Folder Options in Control panel. In the File types tab you can assign another program to open with.

I figured that one out. :D The 64 dollar question is, which program?

.DAT is not a standard extension. Extension reference doesn't list it assigned to anything, and usually it's not. DAT usually is a data file. No app assigned to it.

Just unassign it unless you installed something that specifically requires it assigned to it.

Worse comes to worse use System Restore to roll it back to the way it was.

use renamer program . very easy to change mpg to .dat again .
