I have a S370 Anaheim-3 mobo from an emachines that I use as a server. It was originally a celeron 1Ghz FCPGA. This cpu was swapped out by my bro for a 633 celeron, then he gave me this system. I decided to sell the 633 and added a PPGA celeron 433 just to keep the system up and going. I later decided that this was too slow and got a Celeron 766 but this is where the troubles began. The system will BSOD on boot no matter what with the 766, but with the 433 it runs fine, and it ran the 633 and 1Ghz perfect so I know it runs FCPGA chips fine. Any ideas?
Checked and rechecked the heatsink and even went as far as buying a new one to be certain. System still crashes as XP tries to load. It says shutting down system to save from further damage. If I put the 433 back in, it boots fine. I know this board supports FC-PGA chips as high as 1GHz since that's what it originally had. Maybe this is just a bad CPU?
Weird celeron system problems, HELP! C633 to C433 to C766 = Crash?

You can always try and flash the MoBo so it will support a higher cpu?

It originally came with a 1GHz, my bro tossed in a 633 and sold the system to me. I sold the 633 and added a 433 because I wasn't using the system much. As usage picked up, the 433 was too slow. I bought a 766 and that's when it started crashing. I have never seen this before and everyone says it's the chip overheating or the like. I have tried many heatsinks and even went as far as to buy a new one yet it still does the same thing. The machine will operate in DOS/Bios fine but as soon as XP tries to load it BSOD with an error that it's shutting the system down to prevent further damage.

1- you sure the FSB settings are correct for that processor? Celerons had both 66 and 100 fsbs
2- You sure the voltage settings are correct?
3- You sure the processor is good?
Is there anything more to that error other than "shutting down to prevent further damage"?

Everything is set to "default" or "Auto" and/or set at rated, ie: 11.5x66FSB, etc. I tried to force it at 766 and also auto to be sure.
The only message is the shutting down part, then it reboots and does the same thing. It will allow dos and bios operation but windows is a no-go no matter what I try.

Well I guess I give up, this CPU goes to the trash. I might make a keychain out of it.....
Doesn't make sense though since it can be used in DOS mode and Bios without a single problem but as soon as you try XP, BAM. BSOD.....
