Good Intel Heatsink?

Just looking for some recommendations. Need it for my P4 3.0 that I just built. It's the first computer I've built but I'm farely capable. That being said, I'd rather not have to take out my motherboard. I also have a huge case so I dont think that's a problem (Antec Plusview LE).

Welcome.

I suggest Anything thermalright makes. they are the #1 heatsink manufacture at this point and everythign they make is golden in quality and proformance.

Just get the most expensive one you can afford. They do NOT come with a fan so that wil lahve to be bought in addition to the heatsink unless you have a spare one already.

Also recently, thermaltake's products have been pretty good as well. usually cost less and proform near what you get with thermalright.

Lol. Ya I was looking at Thermalrights stuff and it looks all good except that a) you have to remove your motherboard (which would be QUITE a pain) and b) they are supposted to be really heavy. Are they heavy enough to be overly nervous about? Also I have a pretty good 90 (or so) mm fan, would that work?

Honestly, the weight of it really shoudl not bother you unless you are moving your system all the time like jogging up and down your stairs with it. and if you are taking it to a LAN party or somethign just lay it down so the mboard is even with the seat of your car.

That being said I woudl look into thermaltake then and there Spark 7+ it has gotten a pretty good welcome around the websites. another option would be the zalman cnps7000a-cu ( I dont know if you have to remobe the mboard for this product) but i ran it on my athlon 64 and it did an AMAZING job and really doesnt cost all that much and looks Damn cool.

also shop at http://www.svc.com they pretty much carry every cooler there is for cpu's and are always priced very competitively.

Cool. That little handle/carrying thing (comes with the case) should help to distribute the weight if I move it then.

For the most part, I wouldnt worry about weight. The proble with the pentium heatsinks, is when you use there claw type thing they have to latch them on, it really puts alot or stress on the board. I watched it up close once, on a stock p4 HS, and The board gets a real good bend out of it, I also have heard rumors *not seen yet for sure* that people who clip them on and off *mostly amd freaks n e way* on the p4 HS's, the board may become permanitly warped... Just be careful!
