Modem woes

Post by d_b »

Have a Zoom V.92 external modem which usually connects at 28k. Whenever I disconnect from the internet the disconnect box quits responding so I have to ctrl, alt, del and end the task. The modem won't release and still shows its connected but has no activity. The only way to use the modem again is to turn the modem off and leave it off for a couple of minutes. On the rare occasion that it does disconnect, it takes about 5 minutes to release the modem.

I've run ad aware, spybot, virus scanners...nothing found. Uninstalling the modem and re-installing doesn't help. Have tried the generic windows drivers and the Zoom drivers..no difference. Could it be the modem is going bad? Any ides?

Life is not fun down here in dial-up hell. :(

Thanks!!

I always had that problem on occation, when I used my modem. I think that the file that hangs is called RNAAPP, but if you do a ctrl-alt-del you should see the program file that is hanging at close. This was with a win98 system.

I could never find a solution, even after upgrading diall-up-networking (DUN). Did you try a Goggle search for RNAAPP?

Thanks, I'll try google. When I do ctrl, alt, del, the file that hangs is just my connection, culcom.net
