i got an old "hand-me-down" desktop that i need to do a reformat and reinstall on. It's an AMD K62-500mhz running on Windows XP. The OS is so screwed up that i need to reformat.
I've dloaded all the necessary drivers for most of the components but I can't seem to find the make and model of the Motherboard.
Is there any simple "tool" out there to just find out the make of the Motherboard or can I find this out from within Windows? Or do i need to unscrew the case and have a "physical" look at the MB?
easiest way is probably just looking at it directly. if it's an OEM pc it can be tricky sometimes...if it's a home built then the mobo should be clearly labelled.
When the comp is booting up, get the bios ID string. Post it and I'll try to find an answer for you. Or if you have it running, install SiSoftSandra. It will give you the ID string too.
