hey guys,
the other day i was checking some stuff out on the comp and brought it into safe mode to clear the remnants of a virus. now, i can't get the computer to reload normal. no run box shows on the startup and i have no idea how to get back to msconfig. i tried the f8 before the xp sign comes up and it lets me select 'start windows normally' but it just starts back up in safe mode. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Even in safe mode you should have a run box in the start menu, but is the screen resolution is too low it might not be visible until you scroll it into view.
Worse comes to worse bring up the task manager, bring down the File menu, select "New task (Run)". Does the same thing.
You can try selecting from the boot menu "Last known good configuration" and see if that fixes your problem.
It's possible this virus causes some damage to system files. Which virus? Did you look up the virus in Norton or McAfee's knowledgebase? Many modern virsues require more than a cleaning - you sometimes have to repair registry damage.
Worse comes to worse try a repair install.
