Thermalright does it again. Kind of a cross between the SLK800 and SLK900U, the SLK900A is made to fit fans up to 92x38MM, like the 92MM tornado. And fit on more mobos than the slk900u.
Good point. Ya know, I never even thought of that. But people always seem to pay a premium for the best and many buy the similar priced slk900 and slk800.
And btw, now Thermalright has announced the SLK947U. Basically the SLK900A, but bolt-on for both AMD and Intel.
I just upgraded to the Gigabyte GA-7N400Pro2 mobo with an Athlon XP 2700+ and I don't like my temps with my current Volcano 9 HSF.
If you have this mobo then you are probably aware of the single nasty capacitor that is very close to one corner of the socket. In fact I had to shave a good bit off the Volcano's heatsink to keep from bending this sucker over (it doesn't sit very high off the mobo so bending it very far could break the leads!).
Any help would be appreciated. Tired of seeing temps in the low 60C's with my Volcano 9 but I don't want to buy this expensive rig unless I know it will fit first.

Is it just me or are the fins WAY off on picture 3? Like they attached the heatplate cockeyed.
Seth, nice rig...kindy messy tho. I'm guessing that's your 'play' rig? The one you pull out and cram in many things on a weekly if not daily basis? I've got one like that...I didn't even bother with rounded cables and nothing is tied back.
Sweet sink any way ya look at it... :
Headphones are the answer to all insane air cooled systems.
no, that heatsink is nothing like that. they fold the end of each sink to attach it to the next one to reduce vibrations and what not, and its juwt the way the picture is taken also.
As for a opteron. Presently, no I dont think it will work with one. maybe someone will come out with one of those universal heatsink clips like they did for the p4.
I Like It! Got it in yesterday along with some AS3. After a lot of cable wrapping for my new PSU and some other fun stuff (make sure you don't cross the yellow wires w/the red ones), got around to installing this HSF. Very nice temp drop. Dropped from 43*C@FL w/Tt V9 CoolMod to 38*C@FL w/SLK-900A. Well worth the $30 I had to pay for it.. eGo

Hey Ego... I 've had one of these too for a month or so they work great I am running at about the same temp @full load also , what fan are you using ? I have a 92mm I think its running @2600 rpm I cant remember the cfm but I think its about 50 and nice and quiet
<<~~~ NOT A COMPLETE IDIOT , SOME PARTS ARE MISSING
Well, the mobo utility and bios say that my "Chassi" fan is running at 1200~1400RPM and I know all the other ones are 2500RPM fans. So I'm guessing that the "chassi" fan is the CPU fan. I may try switching it out with another one later to see what I get for the speed. Not sure of the CFM but it must be pretty decent.. heh.. It's a Blue 4 LED fan from svc. Don't have time to check the specs right now.. eGo
