S-video to the RCA plug?

Post by Absolut Talent »

I was just curious.....where can I find one of those adapters to change a s-video into the rca plug (ie the yellow plug for your TV, yellow, red, white)

much like what comes with those nice high tech ATI cards.................

The Shack got anything like that? It's been awhile since I've been there... I've been thinking about buying a cable like this one, but been draggin' my ass on it...

Is this for a laptop? If so, the cable at Rat Shack (if they have one - they don't have anything anymore) may not work.

Most laptops use a funny non-standard variation of an s-video port.

For example I tried 3 different cables on my Compaq laptop - one only gave me a B&W picture, the other two didn't work at all.

I finally found a source for the right cables: http://www.svideo.com/svideorca.html

Any of the cables on this page should work with any laptop.

I ordered the MSV-MRCA 6' s-video to RCA cable and it works like a charm. They sent it UPSP Priority Mail an I got in in three days.

I tucked it in my laptop bag so I can watch DVD's or Divx movies on the spare bedroom TV off my laptop when I'm staying at my in-law's in Miami.

Make sure your TV has 75ohm load on it or something like that.. If it doesn't, it won't work.. You'll have to get a modulator.. I already had a modulator so I didn't have to get one, but my TV didn't work directly with the plug.. eGo
