computer just hard freezes. no video

Post by CaterpillarAssassin »

Working on this computer that just freezes randomly. Monitor shuts off and its basically like it just shuts off except i still hear the fans going and the keyboard lights are still on (dont respond). Sometimes it will just reboot. Changed proc. and mobo and video. Wondering what else it could be?

Matsonic board
duron 1.3ghz
64mb pc100
8gb wd hd
win98 (via drivers installed)

on to another PC.

This one will give "this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down" whenever starting a certain program and printing. This just started happening after I put new ram in (used to randomly freeze).

pc chips board
1.3ghz duron
256mb pc133
20gb hd
win98 also (via drivers instaled)

any ideas on this one?

My guess would be the RAM...got another stick you could throw in there? (or if you're using more than one stick, try using only one at a time, switching them out) hope that helps.
