Quick Router/Cable internet sharing question

Post by RaT »

i currently have a linksys 4 port router hooked up to my pc's/laptop sharing my cable internet.

for those with experience with Macs (Apple), is it possible to simply plug a laptop into an available port and get internet sharing from the get go (like i do with my windows based laptop)?

situation is i have a friend visiting from London who brought over his apple laptop and he needs to dload some drivers. do apple laptops have the same ethernet ports as pc's? may sound weird but i've never touched a "mac" based computer before :) and have no idea how they are configured.
"I didn't do it!!!!"

yes they have the same RJ45 jack ;) Just make sure that he has TCP/IP installed. None of that appletalk crap. Other than that he should be able to just set it to DHCP and let 'er rip.
