Hello gang,
Disgustingly broke, up to YOUR ass in debt, and stuck with a celery 366.
I need a new PC, I'll 467$ to spend (State tax refund). I'm absolutely clueless on AMD systems as I'm an Intel guy usually. This will be a system used by moth me and the gf until I can build myself a real system so keep that in consideration. She's not a gamer at all, except for diamond mine and such, but she loves her MP3s!
Keep in mind I'll need to get a 60Gb or so drive for her and it'll run XP.
I have a NIC, SB 512 sound and a Matrox 32mb G400 - so what I need to know is whats a good (read as stable) AMD Motherboard and a decent chip to get. I don't need temp, voltage, fan rpm monitoring, but it would be helpful.
Sorry to dump this off on you guys, but all the AMD boards I want are 130$+, and I know someone out there knows of a decent stable board (Doesn't have to be a big name brand like Asus, Soyo, etc) that I can setup and let it go.
Thanks!
Help me assemble a low cost AMD system pls

Do you plan to do overclocking?
If you're wanting this to last you till you can do better then I'd go with something like a Epox 8K3AE ($69) and a XP 1700+ Thoroughbred ($53) and at least 256mb DDR, 512 if you can swing it.
