Been out of the loop a bit. Time to build a new system. Wanted to stick with another Athlon...specifically the 1 Gig Thunderbird. Aside from trying to figure out who has the better system board to use with it, is there a particular brand of memory I should use?
My current Athlon had some problems with particular brands and I would hate to go through the "return merchandise through the mail" thing again.
I was thinking of using the Asus A7V system board. Any suggestions?
Memory to use with Thunderbird
Mushkin
Look at http://www.mushkin.com for their PC133 rev3. It's rated to 150Mhz.
I usually stick with Micron and Crucial (which are actually the same I think). No Name ram can cause some issues.
http://www.1stchoicememory.com/ has good stuff and decent prices.
I'd stick with PC133 and its up to you if you wanna fork over the extra $$$ for CAS2 vs. Cas3. If ya can I probably would.
I would like to also recommend the MSI K7T PRO 2-A motherboard. It's a fairly new revision so ya might not have seen alot on it, but the reviews their are put it above most other motherboards.
This is Anandtech's Socket A motherboard round up. The K7T Pro 2 won. The Pro 2-A is even more refined than this board. Their only mentioned down side is the lack of ATA 100 on the board. The 2-A revision DOES have ATA 100 now.

There are a couple other reviews that place this board over Asus and Abit's boards just can't remember where. Still a very new motherboard.
