Getting a new case for Christmas...

Post by Frost »

What to choose?? My system is almost complete, I'm done with all the upgrades (atleast for now) but it has no case, its just sitting on my desk. My dad said he would buy me a case for Christmas though, now I just have to decide what I want. I'd like to keep it around $100, $150 is about all I could spend, it doesn't need to come with a power supply, but if it does thats fine. I'm trying to decide if I want an all plexi glass case, or an aluminum case, with just a window?? Anyways I want to be able to see inside it somewhat because I plan on getting a couple of those cold cathodes, and maybe one of those fans too :) Heres the system I plan on putting in there:

A7V8x
XP 2400 (@2184 right now 182fsb)
512 megs OCZ pc3200
PNY GeForce TI 4400
SB Live
80 gig WD 7200rpm HD
12x creative DVD
16x Acer burner

Please post links to your favorite cases, and any others you know of that meet these requirements, thanx!

I like Lian Li's (though they are hitting your price limit there w/o a PSU!) :)

Heres one at SVC that is both aluminum and has a pre-cut window for ~$70. They also have others that you might wanna check out.

http://www.directron.com has a ton of cases as well as http://www.colorcases.com

OCZ ram you could have done a little research and found out their ram is pretty much shit and one of the least worst companies on this planet... :( Myself i like the aluminum chieftec cases that newegg carries... their right at about 100 with PSU and Window already. Light and BIG!

well the lian lis are nice....excellent construction and lots of thoughtfull lil extras

I personally like the pc30 just because its so luggable

and despite the 2 5.25 hay restriction i have no complaints (usb2.0 cdrw covers all my optical needs)

the pc60 though is just all around the perfect case imho

I hate the Lian Li cases. Personally, i think they are ugly, over priced flimpsy pieces of $H!T. I am still try to understand what someone would pay $200 for a small mid tower case that has flimsy "Aluminum" panels, NO power supply, very uncompatible parts (for modding)... when you could simply buy a nice sterdy Antec style case that's a full tower with plenty of room for wires (it's beyond me why everyone complains about messy wires so much, but none the less, it has the room), removable drive cages, and everything else you'd want from a case for $49 in black, and $48 in biege (Link .
