whats wrong?

Post by ji1831 »

i have shuttle ak12a (kt133a) and my brother was complaining that the computer turns off when idle. so i tried something in the bios. and now all the computer does is one long beep and turn off. i think it has something to do with the fan speed or the fan. the fan doesnt plug into the motherboard it plugs into the power supply so i dont think the motherboard can get a reading that a fan is present. Could it be a self-defense thing or what? any help will do.... how do i get it to go away?
thanks....

I don't know anything about that board, but that COULD be it. Look to see if there is a jumper, to change. If need be, you could reset the CMOS, and use factory defaults.

I'm sure someone else can offer more than just basic help. :)

Most modern mobos will turn off if they can't detect the CPU fan spinning. You'll have to look in the BIOS for a setting to disable CPU fan alarms and shutdown.

You really should consider getting a CPU fan that connects to the mobo.

To get it up and running again just reset the CMOS (should be a jumper) and that will put it back on default settings.
