I'm pricing together my new system (hopefully to buy in the next few months), and I saw a thread about half a page down, saying the hercules is way better than Creative now. Is this true? Or is it just one of those matter of opinion things. Any thoughts would help =)

So Soundblaster sucks now?
I dont think so. I havent had any probs with the live or audigy line of cards. But others do.

The problem with the Live and Audigy is that they both have serious problems if they're in a slot that's sharing an IRQ channel with another device. This causes lockups and random reboots. Sometimes more bizarre problems like scratchy audio.
If you don't have many cards installed then you can usually move it to another slot and cure the problem, but if your slots are fairly full then you'll have problems.

YEAP! That is the card that I have, and I never had a single issue with the card for a year now. I'm still using the same drivers that came with the card. I've used the card to input anolog audio from a vinyl LP with no problems, and it even comes with a decent control panel to tweak your settings. I've heard that they will no longer be making the Turtle Beach card any more. If so, I'll probably buy another one to keep on hand, or have to find a decent replacement for future builds.Originally posted by Jim Z
If I ever assemble a system that needs a sound card, it gets a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. Why?
- No Creative compatibility problems
- No Creative crapware
- No hassles getting drivers
bump x2
