Bye Bye Visiontek

Post by MAC »

HardOCP has this report about Visiontek possibly going under. How can a company that's one of the largest sellers of video cards in North America do this??

So much for paying a premium just to get a lifetime warranty.

Realistically, it's tough when all you do is video cards. Sure, it's a big pie, but when you go too many people standing around wanting a piece there are always people left out.

Shows what a tough market to be in. The slump in PC economy and not doing much to differentiate Visiontek products from other products didn't help either. PNY will pick up some of the slack for the retail market but who else? Perhaps MSI since they've turned into a major league maker of videocards.

Well this didn't come at a good time for Nvidia and its is a blow but not a terrible one for Nvidia. They have had major partners go away before. First it was STB after being bought by 3dfx. Then Creative left the videocard market.

Hey MAC, you get permission from Peckerhead Bennet to link to LimpOCP? :lol

http://www.bjorn3d.com/#newsitem1354
"Well Kyle from HardOCP (MR. Copyright!!) is reporting that VisionTek has failed, plus yelling at websites for linking to his site."

later on this was changed to

"They have a story about this on their site. I am sorry but I can’t link to it because Kyle gets bent out shape about such things."

and more sites reported on the idiocy:
http://www.nvnews.net/#1029712054
"I would like to point out that Kyle Bennett has informed me that material found on HardOCP is considered copyrighted, and I will refrain from making any direct links to their website in the future. Therefore, I have decided to post an email that came our way several hours before HardOCP posted this story."

http://www.3dchipset.com/news.shtml#new ... 179,83615,
"Link now changed to a more credible source (nV News) then to the biased and self centered [H]. Pretty sad how he treats sites that links to them."

Well folks, I hope Kyle is wrong because I have a VisionTek ti4200 that is screwed up. I have emailed them and spent about 90 minutes on hold over the last few days trying to get an RMA and I have yet to get a response.

If they are still in operation, their tech support sure appears not to be in operation and the other numbers I have tried have yet to turn up a human response either.....

I had no problem reaching them via email last week and getting a replacement HSF assembly for my Geforce3 Ti200.
