is there any way to set up dual monitor so that the icons in my systray will show on both monitors on an extended task bar?

You can install UltraMon: http://realtimesoft.com/
Ultramon gives you a taskbar across both monitors. You have an option of the taskbar being duplicated on both monitors, or it can be setup so that the programs that are running have their icons on the taskbar on the same monitor that the program's window is on only.
I myself don't use this feature. I prefer having my icons on the main monitor only, but I still like Ultramon's other features.
