Toshibia 16X DVD tray problem....

Post by Savatage »

Just rebuilt my rig and everything installed great with this system ... OS and all. I had my tray in the open ( out ) position when I restarted my rig and as before it closed on it's own. After reboot I pushed the button to open the DVD and I see the light as well as a small noise but the tray didn't budge. I tried again and again but pushing the button and I can see it's trying to open and the front basel ( SP?) is moving a bit but still it's stuck. Tried to use a paper clip into the small hole to manual open but again stuck.

Any ideas ? Should I try to pry it a bit as it tries to open ?

Grrrrr :(

Well damm. It's done. Only had this " OEM " for about 4 mths. Somthing inside came apart I guess. I'm going to try to find out if I cam RMA it to Toshibia. Luckly, high preformance DVD drives are not that expencive. There's a slot load Pioneer 16X ( 106 ) at my local dealer here that's around $60.00 or so. I guess I'll pick that up tommorro.

RIP Toshibia 16X DVD :(

Well if you need to order anything else and want to save a bit, Pioneer Slot load 16x DVD (OEM) at NewEgg.com for $52 shipped. Just do a search for "Pioneer DVD".
