Hmmm....XP wont shut off computer

Post by CaterpillarAssassin »

Win2k and 98 worked fine. But now with XP it will go to shut down then it will shut off the hard drive and the mouse will freeze and it will sit there. I have gotten all updates and my drivers are up to date.

Athlon 500@720
192mb PC100
30gb 7200rpm WD HD
Radeon 32mb DDR
1 PCI NIC

No Idea guys. A little help?

Back in my (now old) XP days before ousting it, I too had that experience BUT solved it by updating drivers. I believe it was something like mouse drivers too in my case.

it's an ACPI thing...make sure its enabled under "power managment" in your bios

same thing happens if you hit f7 during xp setup...
