SoundBlaster Extigy

Post by wpublic »

anybody got the extigy yet?

they claim it can be used as a digital receiver for external (home theater) components as well as for your PC.

i was just wondering has anyone tried this yet, and how is the performance?

I just got my new C'T magazine in the mail and they also have a small test on that <strike>soundcard</strike> sound-thingy.
It is a nice addon for Laptop users or those with onboard sound that don't want to open their PCs for upgrades.

Soundquality is quite good and the USB detection etc. seems to work on most PCs without a problem, only the mic in is of lower quality.
It comes with a full Dolby-Digital-Decoder and could be used as standalone DVD-Audio-Decoder for 5.1 systems. There's even a remote control included.

Those are the most important points from their one-page review, it's quite good for an external sound-whatever and almost equal to an internal soundcard.

Gamespot said it was good overall, but they had some issues with sound cutting or quality or something of the sort.
