Why is this cable modem so slow?

I just bought a 3com office connect external cable modem, connected via ethernet card and it is only getting about 120 kbps down. The RCA on lease from AT&T will usually get upwards of 900 kbps down, using the exact same cables and windows settings. Anyone got any ideas?

N/M people, I gave att the mac addy of the new modem and that fixed it. I didnt even realize that was part of switching modems as it doesnt list it anywhere on their FAQ/guide/workbook/coloring book/wideruled big chief tablet/cave wall.
