MSI K7T266 Pro2 BIOS problem after CPU upgrade

Post by Piper »

I just swapped out my 1.2GHz Tbird for a 1700+ on my K7T266 Pro2 and now, for some reason, every time I boot up the BIOS beeps twice and stops at “UNLOCK KEYBOARD press F1 to continue”, and the D-bracket has three red lights signifying the keyboard controller is initializing. I press F1 and everything boots fine into XP. I’ve cleared the CMOS via the jumper and loaded system defaults several times. It never did this with my old chip. I changed no other components, and no components have been moved. I’ve also tried every USB port, but the system always does the same thing. Any ideas?

here is a shot in the dark, after a similar upgrade (processor) on a pentium 2 i had this problem, i changed the a20 gate from fast to slow and it worked. the a20 is linked to the kb controller somehow does it have a key lock? if so maybe unplug the lock part.

hope this helps

OK I’m a Doofus ++ I accidentally plugged my Suspend LED into the Keyboard Lock on my case connector header)* Your reply sparked my tired brain. Much appreciated :)
