IE 5.5 how do you change the way it looks...

I took my computer to a buddy's house and hooked up to his cable... And i couldn't get on unless i installed their shit software.... Well it changed the way IE looks... The spinning icon in the corner is their shit icon and it changes the colors to grey outline and white background and it pisses me off... I've done everything i can think of to change it but can't figure it out... Any help would be appreciated.
