Anybody know anything about scanners?

I have an HP ScanJet 3200c parallel port scanner. When I use it, I get this:



Needless to say, this is not why I have a scanner.

I have tried installing, reinstalling software, and other fixes suggested by HP support - They actually answered my emails!

So, they now say, "Take it to an authorized service center" Well I can get another one for less than the cost of a repair BUT, I used this thing about once every two months and have had it for about 18 months. I am kind of cheesed off that it it broken...

When I scan, the scanner is very noisy and sometime makes a loud sound at the end of the scan.

Anybody here ever fixed a scanner? Know any sites or links or etc.?

From the looks of that image, I think your scanner is shot.
