FS: cool, modded mATX system (PIII 650,V5 5500 pci,30gb hdd,sb live val,nic,neon)

Post by Hex1975 »

Been working on this a while..... not perfect, but nice first mod in my opinion.... I started with the mATX case from Directron ,here, and heavily modded it... It has a large window in the right side and a blue neon light mounted inside. It has 2 92mm fans inside and has a 235W Sparkle power supply mounted externally. I just got this up and running a couple of weeks ago. Here are the full specs:
  • Small Black cube case
Abit WB6 mATX mobo - 3 pci, audio and vid built in (disabled of course)
PIII 650 + Abit Slotket III + Globalwin HSF (bought this CPU because previous owner said it does 850)
WD Caviar 30gb, 7200 RPM HDD (new when installed)
V5 5500 pci (bought off Anandtech)
SB Live Value (bought off Anandtech)
    Creative 52X (bought new)
Floppy (used) - painted bezel black, but then left it without painting eject button or slot "flap".... is hidden by door, so will let new owner decide to paint or not)
    NIC (pci w/RJ45)
Sparkle 235W power supply mounted externally
2 X 92mm fans (one is "blowhole" mounted inside handle)
Blue neon light (looks very cool shining down on the V5 5500 that is front and center in the window)

I'd like $510 shipped. This is extremely compact and portable, but not super light. Shipping will cost a good bit. I'll ship priority, UPS, or Fedex with insurance and tracking. I've broken down the price of all components and this is the price I've gotten too. Add in shipping and a little for the time and all and I think it would add up to a little more. Please feel free to ask any questions. I have been running this for a couple of weeks and it's running stable. It also runs cooler than I thought that it would, having the 3 fans surely helps. I'll try to post some pics, but I have to borrow a camera. Please e-mail me and I'll gladly send pics as soon as I get them.......

Thanks a ton... I'm sure someone will enjoy this as a gaming comp or even a main comp if they don't plan to expand (as is it has little room for extra drives or cards).

just pci...... I wish it had AGP, but none on this mobo..... that's why I went with the V5 5500 pci.... I'm happy with that, though.....

thanks for the inquiry...

Yeah....

it's a very small case.... the PS is a Sparkle 250W... "standard" size, y'know? I originally planned to put it inside, but it was gonna take a miracle to get it to fit. I think I had it figured out, but it just was better to put it outside. If I were gonna keep it I'd paint the PS, but it's fine like it is. I really like this comp.... I even considered selling my main comp and keeping it, but it's more of a LAN box than a standard PC. I have a burner and there is no room really (I put a fan in the top and had to put the HDD in the 2nd 5 1/4" bay.....)

Anyway.... I'm really glad everyone thinks this is a cool project. People that come over like it, people on the forums like it (even with the bad pics), but I REALLY need to sell it...... kinda getting me down that nobody has bought it....

Night everyone..... and *BUMP* to the top...
